In my case, the initial situation was quite a challenge, having breasts of different sizes, consistency and heights. Will there be visible scars?
In the open rhinoplasty technique (preferred for precision), the incision is only 2-3 millimeters and is placed on the columella (base of the nose). It heals spectacularly, becoming practically invisible a few months after the surgery.
When am I allowed to wear glasses after surgery?
It is strictly forbidden to wear eyeglasses or sunglasses that rest on the nasal pyramid for at least 6 weeks. The reshaped bones need time to consolidate in their new position.
At what age can I get nose surgery?
Rhinoplasty is recommended only after the growth process of the facial bone and cartilaginous structures is complete. Generally, this happens after the age of 17-18 years.
Can I exercise after surgery?
Light walks are recommended right from the first few days to stimulate circulation. Intense physical effort (running, lifting weights) should be avoided for at least 4-6 weeks. Contact sports are completely forbidden for 6-12 months.
In what position should I sleep after surgery?
It is mandatory to sleep only on your back, with your head slightly elevated (on 2-3 pillows), for at least 2-3 weeks. This helps reduce facial edema and prevents accidental bumping of the nose during sleep.
Can I smoke before or after surgery?
Smoking must be stopped at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the intervention. Nicotine narrows the blood vessels, reducing tissue oxygenation, which can increase the risk of complications and necrosis.
What should I avoid immediately after surgery?
In the first few weeks, it is essential to avoid: blowing your nose (it should only be gently dabbed), exposure to strong sun, hot baths/showers, exaggerated facial expressions, and wearing tight clothes around the neck (sweaters).
Will I have swollen eyes or bruises?
Thanks to Piezo (ultrasonic) technology, bruises (ecchymosis) are reduced by up to 80% compared to the classic method. Some patients only have slight swelling in the eye area which disappears in a few days.
When is the final result visible?
You will notice an immediate improvement after removing the splint. However, the final result is definitive 12 months after the intervention. The tip of the nose is the last area from which the edema completely recedes.
Are rhinoplasty results permanent?
Yes. The remodeling of the osteocartilaginous structure is permanent. Of course, with age, the natural aging process can bring minor changes to the face and skin.
What is secondary rhinoplasty?
It is a complex surgery performed to correct or improve the result of a previous rhinoplasty performed (usually) at another clinic. It can only be done after the nose has completely healed from the first surgery (minimum 1 year).
